Here at Inland Revenue (IR) we are well advanced into a multi-year business transformation which will modernise our entire operation. As a customer-centric and intelligence-led organisation, IR’s goal is to give customers the best possible experience when using the NZ tax system. This is resulting in significant changes to how we seek insights, operate and engage with customers, and the way that our people undertake their work.

About the role

As a Content Writer within the Business Transformation programme, you’ll be editing and writing content for our print products and online services. Our content team are about making information simple, clear and concise.

You’ll be working with a broad range of content, from the highly tax technical to legislation or policy updates, as well as informing customers of key dates and information impacting their day to day lives.

What we’re looking to see from you:

  • The ability to take complex information and quickly distil the key messages into plain English.
  • An awareness of how customer’s react to online and print information; you understand the principles of effective writing and can mitigate obvious pain points.
  • Previous experience in a hands-on writing and editing role, ideally in a large and complex organisation.
  • A glorious delight for grammar and a well laid out document.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment.  There will be times when your priorities shift without much warning, and we need you to keep focused and deliver a quality outcome.
  • The ability to engage with stakeholders, build strong professional relationships, and set clear expectations.
  • Enjoyment for what you do.
