Job Description

Pacific and Development Group

Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade

Are you an expert contract manager with a passion for process and consistency?

Are you an experienced Team Leader with proven ability to develop and grow a new team?

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (the Ministry) acts in the world to make New Zealand safer and more prosperous.  It does this by working to understand geopolitical changes across the world, advancing the Government’s international priorities, and providing advice to the Government on its implications. By building connections and influence in other countries we act to promote and protect New Zealand’s interests.

The Pacific and Development Group (PDG) is looking for a Team Leader to manage a new team of Project Coordinators focused on supporting the delivery of the New Zealand Aid Programme.

The purpose of the Project Coordinator (Development) is to provide hands-on support to Activity Managers in delivering specific country work programmes as part of the New Zealand Aid Programme.  These are new roles that form part of a centralised team working on multiple activities (projects) at one time. They may work across sectors, thematics and teams and will have a strong customer service ethic along with flexibility to move roles based on resourcing requirements across the group. As well as leading the team, the Team Leader will also spend a large portion of their time doing Project Coordinator work.

The team leader will be focused on creating a centre of excellence in PDG business process, ensuring consistency and continuous improvement across process and reallocating work taking into account business requirements.

We are looking for someone who is a self-starter with extensive experience in contract management and working in complex process environments. You will need excellent relationship managements skills and previous experience leading and developing teams.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade aspires to be a workplace that values and utilises diverse and inclusive thinking, people and behaviours. This means that our staff reflect the diversity of New Zealand and the countries we work in, and that the contributions of staff with diverse backgrounds, experiences, skills and perspectives are valued and respected.

The Ministry values are:

Impact – We achieve for New Zealand, everyday, everywhere

Kotahitanga – We draw strength from our diversity

Courage – We do the right thing

Manaakitanga – We honour and respect others
